This page is a static reference on how the MSI bracket format works, rather than a live bracket tracker. We don’t display real-time or historical match results here, so for the confirmed 2026 bracket, play-in results and final standings, go to the official LoL Esports site or Liquipedia’s MSI 2026 page, both of which maintain accurate, continuously updated records of who played whom and what the results were.

How the MSI bracket stage generally works

MSI’s format has shifted somewhat across different years, but the core structure has generally followed a recognizable pattern:

  • Play-ins — teams from smaller or lower-seeded regions compete in an opening stage, often a group format followed by short knockout series, to earn a place in the main bracket.
  • Bracket or group stage — the direct-seeded teams from top regions (and the play-in survivors) compete through either a round-robin group stage or a single/double-elimination bracket, depending on the specific year’s format.
  • Knockout rounds — the tournament narrows down to a final, typically played as a best-of-five series, crowning the MSI champion.

The exact number of participating regions, the group format, and how many teams advance from play-ins have all varied year to year, which is why checking the current format alongside the bracket itself is worth doing rather than assuming it matches a previous edition.

What to check once you have the bracket

Once you know the confirmed 2026 matchups from an official source, useful research angles include how each team performed in their own region’s split leading into MSI, whether a team has any recent roster changes since qualifying, and how regions have historically performed relative to each other at international events. A single bracket result also carries more or less weight depending on the round — a play-in result says less about a team’s ceiling than a strong showing against a top-seeded region in the main bracket.

A note on accuracy

Esports brackets update constantly during a live event — teams get eliminated, series get rescheduled, and results are only official once posted by the tournament organizer. Always treat the official LoL Esports MSI page as the source of truth for anything happening in real time, and use this page only for understanding the format itself.
