Milio is one of League of Legends’ more recent additions to the support role, a warm-hearted enchanter whose fire-based kit is built entirely around keeping his allies alive and empowered rather than dealing damage himself. He’s become a popular pick for players who want to play a pure enabler for their team’s carries.

Role and class

Milio is a support enchanter, a category of champion defined by healing, shielding, and buffing allies rather than fighting directly. He’s designed to stay near his team’s damage dealers, keeping them topped up and safe so they can focus entirely on dealing damage.

Core kit overview

Milio’s passive empowers his abilities with bonus effects whenever he uses them near an ally, encouraging him to position close to his carries rather than at a distance. His main ability launches a fireball that heals allies and damages enemies it passes through, giving him a dual-purpose tool for both sustain and poke. He also has a shield ability that can be cast on an ally to protect them from incoming damage during a trade or all-in. His third ability slows enemies in an area, useful for peeling attackers off a carry or setting up a kill for his team. His ultimate cleanses crowd control from and boosts the movement speed of all nearby allies, a game-changing tool that can single-handedly save a teammate from an otherwise fatal crowd-control chain in a fight.

Strengths and weaknesses

Milio’s biggest strength is the sheer safety he provides - his shield, heal, and especially his cleansing ultimate let his team play far more aggressively than they otherwise could, since bad crowd control on a key carry can simply be removed. He’s also relatively simple to play well compared to more mechanically demanding supports, since his kit rewards good positioning over precise skill execution.

His main weakness is a near-total lack of offensive pressure - he has no hard engage or burst damage, meaning he contributes little to starting fights and relies entirely on his team to create opportunities he can then capitalize on. He’s also fairly immobile, with no dash or blink to escape a bad situation himself.

How he’s typically played

Milio is played exclusively as a support in the bottom lane, focusing on keeping his laning partner topped up and safe early before shifting into a pure teamfight-enabling role in the mid-to-late game, where his ultimate can single-handedly turn a fight back in his team’s favor.

Common matchups and synergies

Against poke-heavy lane opponents, Milio’s shield and heal make it difficult for the enemy to ever build enough of an advantage to force a bad trade. Against hard-engage supports who can burst down his carry before he can react, he has fewer tools to prevent an all-in outright. He pairs especially well with carries that rely on being in the middle of a fight, since his cleanse and speed boost let them stay in the fray far longer than they safely could alone.
