Zac, “The Secret Weapon,” is a bouncy, unconventional tank made of living goo - a jungler who initiates fights by launching himself across the map rather than simply walking into position. His elastic movement and area-control tools make him one of the more mobile tanks in League of Legends.

Role and class

Zac is a jungle tank built around initiating teamfights and controlling space through crowd control, rather than dealing heavy sustained damage himself. His value comes from starting fights on his team’s terms and disrupting the enemy formation before his teammates follow up.

Core kit overview

Zac’s signature ability lets him fling himself in a chosen direction by grabbing and slingshotting off terrain, giving him some of the best engage range of any tank in the game once it’s set up properly. His passive causes him to periodically drop blobs of himself while moving, which he can reabsorb later for bonus health - a resource-management quirk that rewards players who track the map and their own trail. He also has an area-effect ability that knocks up everyone caught in its radius, a powerful teamfight-starting tool, and a stretch-and-slam attack that deals damage in a line. His ultimate splits him into several smaller blobs that each explode, knocking up and damaging everyone nearby - a wide-reaching engage or teamfight-ending tool depending on when it’s used.

Strengths and weaknesses

Zac’s biggest strength is his engage range and area control - few tanks can initiate a fight from as far away or disrupt as many enemies at once as he can with his slingshot and knock-up abilities. His unique passive also gives him a form of self-sustain that rewards good positioning and map awareness over the course of a game.

His main weakness is a relatively low amount of hard, single-target crowd control compared to other tanks - his kit is built around area effects rather than locking down one priority target, so he can struggle to peel for or isolate a specific enemy. He’s also predictable once opponents learn to play around his slingshot’s terrain requirements.

How he’s typically played

Zac is played almost exclusively in the jungle, prioritizing early skirmishes and ganks where his mobility lets him arrive from unexpected angles. His value increases in the mid-to-late game as a teamfight initiator, where a well-placed engage can knock up most or all of the enemy team at once.

Common matchups and synergies

Against teams that group tightly together, Zac’s area-effect abilities become significantly more valuable, since a single engage can catch multiple targets. Against poke-heavy compositions that can whittle him down from range before he closes the distance, he has a harder time finding a safe engage window. He pairs well with teammates who deal strong area damage of their own, since his knock-ups create a window that rewards immediate follow-up.
